Toure happy with his achievements

KoloToure said that he is happy with what he has achieved at Celtic.

The former Arsenal and Liverpool defender were brought in by Brendan Rodgers to help the team with his experience of top level competition.

KoloToure said that he feels that he has completed his job and that he feels that the Celtic defence is now more solid at the back. Although KoloToure has not had much game time with Celtic, he feels that he has done enough to help the younger players and that they now feel more confident during games.

Indeed Celtic have managed to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League after going the tough qualifying stage. Although they have ended up as the last team in their group which comprised of Barcelona and Manchester City, KoloToure feels that the club has not done so badly and that they will keep on improving. Brendan Rodgers Promises to Rotate Defensive Players

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers says that he will continue to rotate his defence throughout this campaign.

The club came up with a new defensive combination during the League Cup semi-final game against Rangers during the weekend. This led to suggestions that the manager does not favour the likes of Kolo Toure. The former Ivory Coast international was culpable of major mistakes in the recent Champions League game for Celtic. His errors have effectively left the club with little chance of even qualifying for the Europa League. Meanwhile, his teammateJozoSimunovic has been expected to leave Celtic for quite a while.

However, the 22-year-old was picked for the game against Rangers and he came in with an assured display. Rodgers, who masterminded a 3-3 draw against Manchester City a few weeks back, says that he will continue to use the various options in his squad throughout the campaign in order to alleviate any tiredness. Celtic are involved in four different competitions over the course of the season. It is highly likely that they will not have any European commitments in the second half of the season. Even then, it makes sense for Rogers to utilise his entire squad and not rely on ageing names like Toure.Simunovic held talks with Torino only for the transfer to fall through at the last moment in the summer.

“Erik has been outstanding at centre-half, he is one you can see great improvements in each day as he builds his technique and tactical ability. He has been great, Mikael Lustig and Kieran Tierney have been regulars, both of those have been outstanding. The little change has been with Kolo and Jozo. Jozo, I believe, will be a top-class talent, but has been out for a long time, so it’s about managing his games. You can’t afford when you have been out so long,” said Rodgers.

Kolo Toure Excited to Meet Yaya Touré in the Champions League

Celtic have been given one of the toughest Champions League group stages upon their return to the competition after an absence of two years.

They were unable to qualify for this Premier European competition under the regime of Ronny Deila. However, former Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has brought about instant success – at least in this regard – after they reached the group stages following success in the play-offs. Just when it rekindled hopes of reaching the knockout stages, they have been paired up against Barcelona, Manchester City, and Borussia Monchengladbach.

While Barcelona and City are the overwhelming favourites to qualify, it will be extremely tough for Celtic to overcome Monchengladbach and finish in the third place. The German team are full of quality players and Celtic are the least favourites to at least qualify for the Europa League from this position. Still, one of those to be happy with this draw is defender Kolo Toure. The former Liverpool man joined the Scottish club on a free transfer and he spoke about the joy of being paired up against his brother Yaya Touré. It is highly unlikely that Yaya Touré will be part of the Champions League first-team under Pep Guardiola. The 33-year-old only had a late substitute appearance against Steaua Bucharest in the Champions League qualifiers.

Kolo Looking To Transfer Out

Most players and their fans often share memorable moments on the field.

There is one such moment when Kolo Toure received an ovation from his fans when he, as the number 4 player of Liverpool won against Manchester City on July 30th at 2014. The game had taken place in the Bronx borough in New York at the Yankee stadium.

His form has definitely remained well during the last season as well in Liverpool. There have been others who have declined in performance like Martin Skrtel or Mamadou, who was banned and the team came to rely more heavily on Kolo Toure and other players. The 35 year old Ivorian player was put back into the first team of the Reds and he rose to the occasion during the Europa League that occurred. The team was able to make it to the finals with his contribution and others as well. Last season saw Kolo make about 26 appearances. Continue reading “Kolo Looking To Transfer Out”

KoloToure will only stay at Liverpool if he is needed

KoloToure has stated that he will only stay at Liverpool next season if he thinks he will be contributing actively to the club.

The former Ivory Coast defender’s contract is set to expire during the summer, and he will only consider signing another one if he is given the guarantee that he will be playing.

The Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has already indicated that KoloToure will be part of his team next season and that he will be offered a new contract.

KoloToure has made mostly substitute appearance for Liverpool this season but since the suspension of Mamadou Sakho, he has started a few games. His last game for Liverpool was in the 2-2 draw with Newcastle, and he is expected to feature in some more games until the end of the season.

Speaking of Mamadou Sakho, KoloToure said that he understands his teammate perfectly given that he had also received a ban in the past for a failed drug test. According to him, Sakho is not the last player that will be banned, and that other players will be caught in the future. He said that players are human, and they will make mistakes. He has encouraged Mamadou Sakho to keep working hard and to forget about the past so as to come back stronger as a player. Continue reading “KoloToure will only stay at Liverpool if he is needed”
